This is a common fault for the intake manifold swirl flap mechanism of Mercedes-Benz OM642 V6 CDI / CRD engines. The plastic material used in the construction of the intake manifold is the main source of the problem. The material of this rod which control the swirl flaps has been poorly design and over the time weakening the material leading to Failure. .
