Stud holes in gasket are plastic to reduce the risk of over torqueing carburetor mounting nuts. IMPORTANT: the gasket will have a rough surface with imperfections, this is normal. The gasket will seal and will show an impression of the intake manifold and carburetor after a few heat cycles.
